๐ŸŽ€ A Little Sparkle Goes a Long Way! ✨

I'm so excited to share another new project with all of you my Sparkle Crochet Bow! ๐Ÿ’–

This bow may be small, but it definitely makes a statement. Made with gorgeous sequined yarn, it catches the light beautifully and adds the perfect touch of sparkle to any hairstyle. Whether it's worn on a clip, headband, or attached to a gift, this little bow is as fun to make as it is to wear!

I think this bow pairs perfectly with the matching Sparkle Ruffle Scrunchie to create a fun handmade accessory set!

What color would you make your crochet bow? Would you go with bright rainbow sparkle like this one, elegant black and gold, soft pastel shades, or classic solid colors? Let me know in the comments I always love seeing your creative ideas!

Happy Crocheting! ๐Ÿฉท

Work in Progress: Crochet Pumpkin Patch Voodoo Scarecrow Costume ๐ŸŽƒ

Halloween may still be a little ways off, but I'm already hard at work on my biggest crochet project of the year and I couldn't be more excited to share it with you!

This year's costume is an original design that combines some of my favorite spooky themes into one cozy, handcrafted creation: the Pumpkin Patch Voodoo Scarecrow!

Instead of a traditional dress, I'm designing this costume with long sleeves and full-length pants to make it warm enough for the chilly Halloween nights. The entire outfit will be made from crochet patchwork squares in beautiful shades of pumpkin orange, burnt orange, rust, mustard, brown, and black, giving it the look of an old scarecrow that's been lovingly stitched back together over the years.

One of my favorite details is that some of the patchwork squares will feature jack-o'-lantern faces.

But that's not all!

This costume will also include:

  • ๐ŸŽƒ A glowing pumpkin staff to light the way through the pumpkin patch.
  • ๐Ÿ„ A spooky cute voodoo cow that hangs from the waist as a unique accessory.
  • ๐Ÿ‚ Plenty of stitched details and patchwork textures inspired by scarecrows, voodoo dolls, and the magic of autumn.

I'm currently crocheting all of the patchwork squares first before assembling the costume. Once they're finished, I'll arrange the colors like a giant puzzle to create the perfect spooky patchwork design.

This project is going to be a journey, and I can't wait to take you along with me!

What's Coming Next?

As I work through the costume, I'll be sharing updates, progress photos, and behind-the-scenes peeks. When it's complete, I'll also be releasing:

  • ๐Ÿงถ A full written crochet pattern.
  • ๐ŸŽฅ A step-by-step YouTube tutorial.
  • ๐Ÿ“ธ Plenty of finished photos so you can see every spooky detail.

Whether you're planning your own Halloween costume or simply love creative crochet projects, I hope you'll enjoy following along as this Pumpkin Patch Voodoo Scarecrow comes to life one patchwork square at a time.

Be sure to check back soon for the next work-in-progress update. I have a feeling this is going to be my most magical (and spooky!) crochet project yet.

Question for you: Which color combination is your favorite for Halloween classic pumpkin orange and black, or do you love adding rusty browns and golden autumn shades too? ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŽƒ

Happy Crocheting! ๐Ÿ’œ

✨Sparkle Ruffle Scrunchie! ✨

I'm so excited to share my newest crochet project with all of you! ๐Ÿ’–

This colorful Sparkle Ruffle Scrunchie is made with beautiful sequined yarn that catches the light from every angle, giving it a fun, glamorous look. The soft, fluffy ruffles make it the perfect accessory to add a little sparkle to any hairstyle.

I'd love to hear what you think! Would you make yours in a bright multi-color sparkle yarn like this one, or would you choose a solid color, velvet, or something completely different? Let me know in the comments I always enjoy seeing your ideas!

Happy Crocheting! ๐Ÿ’•

Materials

Yarn: Cotton Yarn - Yarn I used- Gold & Rainbow
Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook

1 plain hair elastic/tie

Scissors

Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)

Video

Abbreviations

  • ch = chain

  • hdc = half double crochet

  • dc = double crochet

  • sl st = slip stitch

Round 1 – Cover the Elastic

  1. Make a slip knot.

  2. Insert your hook through the center of the hair tie.

  3. Work as many hdc as you need to cover the hair tie evenly around the elastic.

  4. Join with a slip stitch to the first hdc.

Round 2 – First Layer of Ruffles

  5. Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch).

  6. Work 3 dc in every stitch around.

  7. Join with a sl st.

Round 3 – Add More Fullness

  1. Ch2.

  2. (2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch) repeat around.

  3. Join with a sl st.

This creates softer, more natural waves instead of extremely tight gathers.

Finishing Edge

  • Ch 1.

  • Hdc into each stitch around.

  • Fasten off.

Finishing

Cut the yarn leaving a 6-inch tail. Pull the tail through the final loop and tighten. Use a yarn needle to weave in all loose ends.

๐ŸŽƒ How to Crochet a Halloween Costume (Easy + Creative DIY Ideas)

Halloween is the perfect time to bring your crochet skills to life! Instead of buying a store-bought costume, you can create something completely unique, cozy, and handmade. Whether you want cute, spooky, or magical vibes, crocheting your Halloween costume gives you total creative control.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to plan and crochet a Halloween costume, plus give you ideas you can customize for your own style.

๐Ÿงถ Why Crochet Your Halloween Costume?

Crocheting your costume has so many benefits:

  • You can customize colors, size, and style
  • It’s comfortable to wear (no itchy store fabrics!)
  • It becomes reusable for photoshoots or events
  • It’s budget-friendly compared to buying costumes
  • You can turn it into a pattern to sell later ๐Ÿ’ก

๐Ÿ‘ป Step 1: Choose Your Costume Theme

Start by picking a theme that inspires you. Here are some crochet-friendly Halloween ideas:

  • ๐ŸŽƒ Pumpkin Witch
  • ๐ŸงŸ‍♀️ Cute Zombie Doll
  • ๐Ÿ•ท️ Spider Queen outfit
  • ๐Ÿง™‍♀️ Forest Witch or Cottage Witch
  • ๐Ÿชก Voodoo Doll inspired costume
  • ๐Ÿ‘ป Ghost Fairy or Spirit Dress
  • ๐Ÿฆ‡ Bat Wing Hoodie set
  • ๐Ÿฌ Candy Monster costume

Tip: Choose something that matches your crochet skill level and the amount of time you have.

๐Ÿงต Step 2: Pick Your Base Outfit

Most crochet costumes start with a simple base:

  • Crop top or bralette
  • Bodysuit-style top
  • Skirt or layered ruffle skirt
  • Shorts or leggings base
  • Dress foundation (like granny squares or mesh stitching)

If you're making a full costume, think of it in layers instead of one solid piece.

๐Ÿงถ Step 3: Choose Your Stitch Style

Your stitch choice will define the costume look:

  • Granny squares → patchwork / harlequin / voodoo doll style
  • Mesh stitch → witchy, gothic, or fairy look
  • Single crochet → structured pieces like hats or props
  • Shell stitches → soft, magical, fairy vibes
  • Bobble stitches → spooky texture or monster themes

๐ŸŽจ Step 4: Pick a Halloween Color Palette

Color is everything for Halloween costumes!

Popular palettes:

  • ๐Ÿ–ค Black + Orange + White (classic Halloween)
  • ๐Ÿ’œ Purple + Black + Green (witchy vibes)
  • ๐Ÿค Cream + Brown + Rust (cottagecore spooky)
  • ❤️ Red + Black (vampire or gothic doll)
  • ๐Ÿ’š Neon green + black (monster aesthetic)

✂️ Step 5: Add Costume Details

This is where your costume becomes unique:

  • Crochet pumpkins, bats, ghosts, or skull appliquรฉs
  • Hanging charms or crochet “props”
  • Ruffles and layered skirts
  • Fringe, tassels, or chains (crochet or added accessories)
  • Face details if making a mask or hood

Small details make your costume look expensive and professional.

๐Ÿง™ Step 6: Assemble Your Costume

Once all pieces are made:

  1. Block your crochet pieces so they shape correctly
  2. Sew or join parts together securely
  3. Add straps, elastic, or ties for fit
  4. Try it on and adjust where needed
  5. Add final decorations last

๐ŸŽƒ Bonus Idea: Turn It Into a Pattern!

If you design your own Halloween costume, you can also:

  • Sell it as an Etsy pattern
  • Share progress on Patreon
  • Make a YouTube tutorial
  • Post reels or Pinterest pins for traffic

Halloween crochet content performs really well online every year, so it’s a great time to create!

๐Ÿ‘ป Final Thoughts

Crocheting your own Halloween costume is more than just making an outfit—it’s creating wearable art. Whether you go spooky, cute, or full gothic fantasy, your handmade costume will stand out anywhere you go.

๐ŸŽƒ✨ A New Halloween Crochet Adventure Begins! ✨๐ŸŽƒ

I'm so excited to finally share what my next big crochet project will be!

This year, I'm creating an original Pumpkin Patch Voodoo Scarecrow costume! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿงก Think spooky harvest vibes with a creepy cute twist patchwork squares in beautiful shades of orange, stitched details, jack-o'-lantern patches, a standing voodoo cow hanging from the waist, and a glowing pumpkin staff to complete the look. I'm even designing two versions: one with a classic witch hat and another with a cozy hood for those chilly Halloween nights! (I will only make one)

This isn't just a costume it's going to be a full crochet pattern and step-by-step tutorial that I'll be sharing with all of you along the way.

I have a feeling this is going to be one of my biggest and most creative crochet projects yet, and I can't wait to share every step with you. Your support makes ambitious projects like this possible, and I'm so grateful to have you along for the ride!

๐ŸŒธ Creamsicle Bloom Jacket Pattern is Finished! ✨

I'm so excited to finally share that the Creamsicle Bloom Jacket pattern is officially finished! ๐ŸŽ‰

This project has been such a joy to create from start to finish. I wanted to design something that felt light, cozy, and effortless to wear, while still showing off the beauty of hand-dyed yarn. The soft creams, pinks, and subtle speckles reminded me of blooming flowers on a warm spring day—which is exactly how the Creamsicle Bloom Jacket got its name.

The oversized hood is one of my favorite features. It adds just the right amount of comfort and gives the jacket that cozy, "throw it on and go" feel. I also love how the contrasting pink hood and sleeves frame the delicate color changes in the body of the jacket.

๐ŸŒˆ✨ Rainbow Candy Dress Progress Update ✨๐ŸŒˆ

I’m excited to share that I’ve officially finished the bottom portion of the Rainbow Candy Dress! ๐ŸŽ‰

After spending time perfecting the shaping I decided to add a row of playful ruffles along the hem. I love how they give the dress extra movement and add to the fun, candy-inspired feel of the design. The ruffled edge was exactly the finishing touch the skirt needed!

With the lower half complete, I’m now turning my attention to the neckline and upper edge of the dress. This is where I’ll be refining the fit and deciding on the final details that will tie the whole design together.

It’s been so rewarding watching this dress come to life one section at a time, and I’m excited to see how the neckline transforms the overall look. Thank you all for following along on this creative journey and for your continued support! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿงถ

What do you think of this dress? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

✨ Rainbow Candy Dress Update ✨

Success! I finally figured out how to get the pleats/ruffles I wanted for the Rainbow Candy Dress.

After quite a bit of experimenting, I started counting out my stitches and strategically placing increases. For the increase stitches, I worked 3 HDC into the same stitch, and after repeating this over 2 rounds, the yarn began forming the fuller pleats/ruffles I was envisioning.

I'm so much happier with the shape now! The skirt has more movement, volume, and that playful candy inspired look I was hoping to achieve. Sometimes crochet design is all about testing ideas until you find the right formula, and this was definitely one of those moments.

What do you think of the new pleats? I'd love to hear your thoughts as I continue working on the dress!

Rainbow Candy Dress Progress Update

I’ve been working on shaping the skirt portion of the Rainbow Candy Dress, and I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes update about the pleats! Right now, I’ve been experimenting with increases to create that soft gathered effect, and it’s starting to show beautifully on one side of the dress. The challenge is getting those pleats to appear evenly all the way around instead of only in certain sections.

At the moment, I think I’ll need to add more structured increases and possibly adjust the spacing so the yarn folds more consistently. Crochet pleats can be a little tricky because the yarn naturally wants to drape differently depending on stitch tension and placement, but I’m getting closer to the look I have in mind. I want this dress to have a really playful, flowy silhouette with lots of movement and texture.

This stage is always a mix of testing, frogging, and reworking until everything balances out just right but that’s part of the creative process! I’m excited to keep refining it and see how dramatic I can make the pleats while still keeping the dress wearable and flattering.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! ๐Ÿ’•

Do you think I should:
• Add more increases for fuller pleats?
• Space the increases differently?
• Try a different stitch pattern for more structure?
• Keep the softer, more subtle look?

I’m experimenting a lot with this design, so I’d love any suggestions or feedback you have. What do YOU think would make the pleats stand out more evenly around the dress?
